INTRODUCTION

Within the framework of the Dragon Cooperation, a joint collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), ESA and National Remote Sensing Center of China (NRSCC) are providing a series of advanced thematic training courses on remote sensing applications hosted by university and research institutions in P.R. China. In 2014 as part of this initiative, Ph.D. students and post-doctoral research scientists from P.R. China and other Asian nationals studying in China, who are interested in land and water resources applications, are invited to attend a 6 day advanced training course in the subject.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this advanced Dragon training course are:
  • To inform on past, current and future EO satellite missions and data access from ESA and Chinese EO missions (both ESA and China plan to launch new EO missions from 2014 on)
  • To demonstrate the exploitation of ESA, TPM and Chinese EO data for land applications and water resources under climatic change
  • Introduce available software tools and methods for the exploitation of ESA Sentinels and Chinese missions' satellite data
The course will be taught by leading Dragon cooperation Chinese and European EO scientists and will be hosted by the Key Laboratory of Poyang Lake Wetland and Watershed Research, Jiangxi Normal University, Nanchang, P.R. China.
